Suzanne Portnoy

Looking outside at my garden that needs watering, reminds me that I could do with getting wet myself.  July is looking to the driest month of the year.  The kids are off school and home meaning that any notion of breakfast time fun has gone right out of the window.  A short family holiday I’ll be taking shortly means that my kids free weekends are no more.  Business ‘meetings’ at Rios are suddenly looking very appealing.

Until 23rd July I’m pretty much a very full-time and full-on mom.   Then, after the 23rd, I’m alone and fancy free for almost a solid month, giving me the opportunity to make up for lost time.  Already I’m thinking about the lovers I haven’t seen for a while, a few new ones that look quite interesting.  There’s no one even remotely serious on the horizon but it’s usually around this time of year that I pick up another short-term boyfriend that then gets dumped as soon as the kids drop their suitcases in the front hall.  The Suzanne who has no responsibilities is very different from the Suzanne who has.  I enjoy pretending that I’m a truly single woman for 3 weeks, seeing my friends, skipping meals, staying up far too late when I’ve got work the next day.  It feels like taking a holiday from myself.

Until then, however, it’s work work work.  My vibrator will have to suffice in place of anything hard and warm and real.  Thank heaven it’s rechargeable.
